Can You Reverse Sun Damage? The Honest Answer

By Dr. Lazuk, Co-Founder and CEO of Lazuk Cosmetics® | Esthetics® | Alpharetta, GA

Here's the honest answer to one of the questions I get most often.

Can you reverse sun damage?

Partially. And meaningfully. But with caveats.

Sun damage happens at multiple levels. Surface pigmentation — sunspots, uneven tone — is very responsive to treatment. Vitamin C, retinoids, chemical exfoliation, and laser can produce significant improvement.

Deeper structural damage — collagen degradation, elastin fragmentation — requires more. Radiofrequency. Laser resurfacing. Biostimulators that rebuild from within.

And DNA-level damage to skin cells? Some of that is permanent.

The most important thing you can do right now, regardless of your history?

Stop adding to it.

SPF 30 or higher. Daily. Without exception.

Whatever sun damage you have today… if you protect consistently from here forward… you stop the accumulation. And you give every treatment you do a better chance of lasting.

It's never too late to start protecting.

May your skin glow as brightly as your smile.
