Direct answer: Do not stop a GLP-1 medication on your own before laser or microneedling. The answer depends on the exact medication, indication, dose changes, gastrointestinal symptoms, nutrition and hydration, health history, whether sedation or anesthesia is planned, and the procedure’s intensity. A superficial awake procedure is not the same question as surgery. The prescribing and procedural clinicians should coordinate any medication change.

The procedure name is not enough to write a medication rule.

Which facts matter most?

Recent dose escalation, vomiting, poor intake, dehydration, diabetes management, anesthesia, and unstable weight or tissue goals can all change the plan.

Why can waiting help?

A pause in the procedure - not necessarily the medication - may protect recovery when symptoms or nutrition are not stable.

What should be documented?

Record the medication, prescriber, procedure, sedation plan, instructions, and who to contact if symptoms change.

Frequently asked questions

Is a facial different from RF microneedling?

Yes. Barrier disruption, heat, depth, discomfort, and recovery are different.

Does local numbing count as anesthesia?

It changes the plan differently from deep sedation or general anesthesia; tell the procedural clinician exactly what is planned.

Can I skip one dose just to be safe?

Do not change prescribed medication without guidance from the relevant clinicians.

What if I recently increased the dose?

Report the change and any gastrointestinal symptoms before the procedure.

Does stable weight matter?

It can matter when the goal is correction of volume, laxity, or tissue change.

What if the clinicians disagree?

Ask them to communicate and identify the evidence, procedure risk, and decision owner.
