Over-Cleansing Is Ruining Your Skin — Are You Guilty?

Over-Cleansing Is Ruining Your Skin — Are You Guilty?

By Dr. Lazuk, Co-Founder and CEO of Lazuk Cosmetics® | Esthetics® | Alpharetta, GA

I want to ask you something.

How many times a day are you washing your face?

If it's more than twice… we need to talk.

Over-cleansing is one of the most common — and most underrated — causes of skin problems I see.

Every time you wash your face… you remove some of the lipids that form your protective barrier. Done once or twice a day with a gentle cleanser? Fine. Your barrier rebuilds.

Done three, four, five times? Or with a harsh cleanser that strips aggressively?

Your barrier can't keep up.

The result is exactly what you don't want. More sensitivity. More oil production as your skin tries to compensate. More breakouts. More redness.

One gentle cleanse in the morning. One at night.

That's the baseline.

And if you're cleansing more than that because your skin "feels dirty"… the real issue is usually barrier damage… not dirtiness.

May your skin glow as brightly as your heart.
